One of the main reasons I bought Visual MP3 Splitter was the Silent detection tool. It worked very well and was a great time saver when splitting several mp3 files containing whole CD's.
I must also mention that the team at ManiacTools was very helpful when I got in to some trouble with a file that had a garbled header. I don't how they did it but now I split that file too...

The Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner is distributed as try-before-you-buy. This means:

1. All copyrights to Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner are exclusively owned by the author: Alex Pavlenko.

2. Anyone may use this software during a test period of 30 days. Following this test period of 30 days or less, if you wish to continue using Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner, you MUST register.

3. Once registered, you are granted a non-exclusive license to use Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner on one computer (i.e. a single cpu), for any legal purpose, at a time. The registered Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner software may not be rented or leased.

4. The Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner unregistered trial version may be freely distributed, with exceptions noted below, provided the distribution package is not modified. No person or company may charge a fee for the distribution of Visual MP3 Splitter & Joiner without written permission from the copyright holder.
